Words of Wisdom

How to Defeat a Bully without Fighting
When you are in a situation in which you are bullied, you may feel that you have no choices. But, you DO. Martial arts physical skills give you confidence about yourself and your ability to defend yourself. Your greatest confidence comes, however, when you can THINK on your feet. When you have mental skills to take charge of the situation without fighting. The highest goal of the martial artist is to stop a fight before it starts. You'd never know this from watching TV or movies about the martial arts. The highest goal is not to fight and win, but to find a way to NOT fighting which case EVERYONE wins.

BALK, TALK AND WALK Remember these three mental martial arts techniques when faced with a potentially violent situation.

Balk: Hesitate and think about other nonviolent alternatives.
Talk: Try to reason with the bully.
Walk: Walk away to avoid the situation or go get help. "A true pacifist is able to kill or maim in the blink of an eye, but at the moment of impending destruction of the enemy he chooses non-violence."
Yukiyoshi Takamura
